We are working with a large metropolitan trauma center/teaching hospital that will soon be adding significant outpatient surgery capacity. We are assisting them in developing a benchmarking collaborative to share best practices and explore opportunities for breakthrough level improvements in access, physician productivity, O.R throughput and “smoothing” and patient and staff satisfaction.
The change initiative will focus on:

Developing an integrated, flexible scheduling model that improves access and physician productivity. |

Optimizing utilization of the Hospital Surgery Center and new off-campus Outpatient Surgery Center. |

Increasing O.R. throughput through the application of Lean Process Design Principles. |

Improving the patient experience while reducing rework and frustration for staff. |
| • |
Developing the right dashboard metrics to measure and monitor performance. |
We are looking to form a collaborative of organizations that are interested in sharing best practices and learning from our client organization’s experience as they execute this change effort.
What you can expect from participating in this benchmarking effort:

Periodic updates through email newsletters, webinars and conference calls on lessons learned throughout the change initiative. |
