Improving Profitability Across Forty Five Locations in 60 Days!
A large U.S. Food Service company was facing declining margins in an increasingly competitive market. Utilizing Leap Technologies innovative approach to best practices deployment across 45 locations, the organization realized a $10 million increase in annual profits over a six month period.

Background
As is the case in many organizations, there was no shortage of tools for solving the declining margin problem. In the words of the Company President, “There is a core set of best practices proven to work in individual markets that we need to spread across the field organization. Our challenge in fixing this problem is how to stay true to the proven practices while still respecting local adjustments that might be necessary.”

Adding to the challenge was how to support a change process across 45 locations while still meeting daily operational requirements, and without spending a fortune in consulting and training fees.

 
 

The Sprint Approach to Deploying Best Practices
Leap Technologies unique approach to solution replication enabled the client to mobilize its people across the country to deploy best practices in fewer than 60 days.

The effort began with a three-day Leadership Jumpstart Event that brought together an expanded leadership team of field executives and subject matter experts from across the organization. These fifty leaders applied Leap Technologies structured approach to:

Identify performance drivers of profitability
Consolidate existing know-how on profitability drivers into well-organized Best Practices Roadmaps
Develop the action plan for deploying best practices across 45 locations
Develop the scorecard for measuring and sustaining results from the initiative

Following the Jumpstart Event, Leap Technologies trained ten internal Rapid Action Team Coaches to support the launch of 36 six Rapid Action Teams across 45 locations.

All teams worked to execute the same profitability improvement assignment developed in the Jumpstart Event but focused on “operationalizing” the Best Practices Roadmap most relevant to their local issues.

Sample Solutions
Redesigned credit memos to eliminate inconsistencies and better meet the needs of Sales, Finance, Inventory Control and Procurement. Annualized: Savings: $65,000
Improved the rate of freight cost recoveries by bringing the in-bound logistics function in-house. Annualized Savings: $53,700.
Implemented improvements in the routing process reduce “small drops”. Annualized Savings: $330,000.
